PROJECT OVERVIEW

As a national information technology infrastructure provider, Peak 10 built their data center in Florida from the ground up, giving them full control over the facility. The site was selected in Tampa near the University of South Florida neighborhood that offered the greatest bandwidth potential and most reliable primary power in the region.

PRECAST SOLUTION

Unlike the traditional one-story-box design of many data centers, Peak 10 boasts a visually appealing two-story design tucked away on a heavily wooded parcel. The design/build team worked closely with the City of Tampa to preserve the extensive wooded site and minimize environmental impact. Once the plan called for two stories, the most creative thing was the use of load-bearing precast concrete exterior walls. They provided a much larger column-to-column clear space than a typical data center. Because land is at a premium in the area, this building was surgically placed among the trees on a tight site, for which precast concrete was extremely well-suited while providing a hardened structure.
