Collins Precast produced 5,490 square feet of radiused insulated precast concrete wall panels to complete a 35-foot tall, 50-foot diameter round building structure that is part of the new Lower Sioux Intergenerational Cultural Incubator. The precast concrete wall panels are 13-inches thick with four inches of embedded insulation.

The Lower Sioux Intergenerational Cultural Incubator provides a new community gathering space for youth, adult, and elders programs aiming to pass Dakota culture on to future generations within the Lower Sioux tribe. Throughout the design process, artists are being engaged to incorporate artwork into the architecture of the building, giving it cultural identity through Lower Sioux design.

The design for the customized formliner that was used on the project was inspired by a local community artist. The butterfly and floral design wraps around the entire perimeter of the building and is accentuated by a dark grey acid-etched texture.

Precast concrete was chosen not only for its ability to showcase the design vision, it was also chosen because its sustainable, low-maintenance nature will support the well-being of the Lower Sioux Indian Community for years to come.
