Gotcha Covered is a full-service home design and remodeling center that is comprised of a combined 11,865 square feet of retail showroom, offices, and warehouse storage. About half of the facility’s square footage consists of reception, retail showroom and office spaces – including 1,175 square feet of second level open office and breakroom space. Opposite the offices is the 5,930 square foot warehouse and loading dock.
With a business based in the residential design and construction industry, members of the family owned Gotcha Covered were familiar with various structural material options for this project. The owners already had experience with a former tilt-up concrete facility, so the inherent durability of concrete construction influenced their decision to explore plant cast insulated precast-prestressed concrete wall panels.
With consideration given to site limitations and overall desired construction schedule, 10” insulated precast-prestressed concrete wall panels were selected for the building’s exterior as well as for the interior separation of the retail and office space from the storage warehouse. Concrete Industries produced approximately 13,750 square feet of 10” insulated precast wall panels utilizing a structural grey concrete with a form finish exterior and smooth trowel interior.
Once erected, the panels received a two-color painted exterior finish with aluminum cladding and an architectural stone wainscotting for additional detail and texture to the façade. Additionally, the owner elected to leave the interior precast face exposed in all areas, simply painting the surface within the retail showroom and offices.
Designed with durability and sustainability in mind, Gotcha Covered is a structure that will stand the test of time for the next generation. Precast concrete insulated wall panels not only provide long term durability and minimal foreseeable maintenance, but they also produce a building envelope that yields recognizable returns on energy efficiency. |
