The Quality Control Manager is responsible for the oversight and management of all quality control functions within the precast, ready mix, and steel fabrication divisions. This includes responsibility for quality control, safety, oversight of production means and methods, administration, documentation and cost control.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Safety
- Immediately report all accidents, incidents and near misses occurring on the job site to your supervisor.
- Report all safety and health hazards to supervisors and take necessary actions to establish an immediate temporary control of the hazard until permanent control can be established.
- Maintain and utilize all PPE provided.
- Attend and participate in all required safety training and meetings.
- Learn and comply with all safety rules, policies and regulations applicable to your work.
- Work safely in a manner as to ensure your safety as well as the safety of those around you.
- Follow all safety rules.
Quality control
- Oversee and manage quality control technicians.
- Review project concrete specifications.
- Prepare and submit proper documentation and submittals for material and mix design approval.
- Research and develop job specific mix designs utilizing independent judgment.
- Prepare and submit 12” x 12” samples and mock ups for A/E approval of color, texture, and finish.
- Quality control responsibility for conducting product in-process and post-process inspections for conformance to job specifications and fabrication details.
- Quality control for in-house and job site concrete testing for precast and ready mix.
- Supervise and maintain the concrete testing laboratory to support the ready mix, precast, and PCI requirements.
- Responsibility for implementation and maintenance of the PCI Quality System manual for the precast plant and PCI accreditation.
- Responsible for implementing and maintaining the quality system for Penn DOT plant certification.
- Monitor the quality control portion of AISC certification.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date records that are understandable and easy to access.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in construction related field OR high school diploma/GED/Tech Prep Diploma with a minimum 5 years of relevant management experience in the construction of materials industry.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Proficient with a computer with working knowledge of Excel or similar spreadsheet application, Word and Outlook.
- ACI Level 1 Certification
- PCI Level III or equivalent
- Proficient in safety regulations and quality control related items.
- The ability to speak effectively in front of groups of management officials, employees or customers, to present information and respond to questions in a clear and effective manner.
- The ability to manage employees, resolve conflicts, promote team building and be a team leader.
- The ability to learn, organize and prioritize work, delegate tasks as deemed necessary, handle multiple tasks, work independently, recognize issues and solve problems.

- The ability to deal politely and professionally with customers and/or co-workers and respond to customer's needs.
- Must have sufficient visual acuity and clear speech to perform the essential functions of the job effectively.
- The ability to use hands and fingers and have manual dexterity.
- This position occasionally requires lifting of up to 50 lbs (approximate weight of a bag of concrete mix)
- Team lifting along with using other alternative forms of lifting such as: hand trucks, pallet jacks, or forklifts when lifting/moving objects from one location to another is available and should be used.
- Smart lifting practices must be used to help limit injuries including:
- Get help if there is any doubt the item(s) may be too heavy to lift by yourself
- Plan the lift
- Keep a wide base of support
- Squat
- Lift with your legs

- Slowly lift
- Keep load close to your body
